I love quotes because it helps me to see the everyday in a new way. One of my favorites is from the author of Winnie the Pooh, A. A. Milne. “Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” When I look back over the many chapters of my life, I find that I value the struggles, as well as the blessings. While I am in the middle of those difficult, yes even painful, times, it is hard to see what good might come of things. But when the storm is over and I can reflect upon what has happened, I usually can see how much I have grown: that I was able to find the capacity within me and support in others to meet that challenge head on. It is difficult for me to watch others face life’s challenges. In those times we need to be that support helping each other weather the storm. I am inspired by all of the wonderful women in my life: friends, mentors, colleagues, mothers, daughters, who face challenges with immeasurable grace and discover that they are braver, stronger, and smarter than they ever imagined.
